In addition to being a snappy bar code scanner, the Handspring Visor handheld computer is an organizational marvel. From the creators of the original PalmPilot™, this powerful pocket-size handheld computer comes fully loaded with an address book, advanced date book and calculator, memo pad, and a "to do" list. Since it's based on the Palm OS™, the Visor computer provides real organizing power and is 100% compatible with thousands of existing Palm computing platform applications.

And with Handspring's unique Springboard™ expansion slot, it's a snap to add software or hardware modules like the Momentum scanner. In an instant, the Visor computer can effortlessly be converted to a music player, a wireless modem, a pager, even an electronic book - with more to come!

Totally Self Contained - Plug-in & Scan!
Unlike other scanning Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) which require the software to be pre-installed and which take valuable memory from the PDA, the Visor handheld computer with the Momentum scanner is designed to contain the application software in the scanning module. This provides for simple plug-in convenience. The Visor handheld computer will come to life and launch the software automatically - no download to the Visor computer is necessary.

Designed by PSC, the leader in grocery store scanning, the Momentum scanner provides the choice of either 2 or 4 MB of flash memory, enough for even modest software and a generous database, or 256K for software applications only. And since it's flash memory, the software or database won't be lost even if the Visor computer batteries run out! The Momentum scanner contains its own rechargeable NiMH battery, providing hundreds of scans before recharge.

When returning the unit to the home base, the Visor computer and Momentum scanner combination rapidly sync with either a PC or a Mac using a high speed USB or RS232 interface. To manage the information accurately, each Momentum scanner contains a unique ID to track ownership of transferred data.

Custom solution? - No problem!
Developers can use standard Palm OS development tools to write custom applications quickly and inexpensively. The Momentum scanner uses industry standards, therefore, porting existing scan enabled applications or writing new applications with PSC's Application Program Interface (API) is easy.
